The morning after..........

Monday morning once again! Yesterday was my son Thomas' birthday. After church the kids all came home with me. Thomas cooked outside on the grill. More folks here than fingers on both hands. What started out a clean house ....by evening, after church services once again, back home to finish up the left overs....then good byes and good nights.... leaves a home to recover. My once clean floors..now,very dirty(we have had rain, thank you Lord)....although some dishes were washed by my 19 year old son(Yes,he got a kiss for that),still there are more to wash and lots of clean ones to put away. A general overall cleaning is in store for today. Am I complaining about the extra work?
No mamm! I am feeling very content this morning. My kids were here yesterday! Those dirty floors mean...that love traveled here. The dirty dishes mean food was prepared and enjoyed by loved ones....

The face of a "Happy Homekeeper"Google images
Jalapeno peppers stuffed with chicken and cream cheese...the crowd pleasers around here...smile.
Armadillo Eggs...google images
The Salsa I made was a hit too......Even by little Jaxon...he had his fill.

As I said...I am feeling very content this morning...happy to do my housework. Happy that my children are healthy....that doors are made for going in and out...and in and out...AND IN AND OUT! That dishes are made to be eaten off of,not just to to be seen and admired. That floors are made to be walked upon,(even in dirty boots and shoes)...and that families come together to celebrate life and love.....That we are blessed to have  food to nourish our bodies and our souls....(Two beautiful,Spirit inspired sermons by our Pastor who preaches what he is led and not just a feel good sermon to tickle the ears and ease a conscious seared with guilt from a week of sinning against the word of God.) Not to many Pastors who preach the plain truth these days...I am thankful we have one.

I love the sweet beauty and serenity in the first picture above of the little girl praying over her food but, that isn't always the scene at my house when we all come together!Lets just say there can be more than enough Joyful Chaos .....

Now,imagine this inside a small room....

Such a time always leaves me feeling very tired, very content and very happy for time well spent with loved ones.......

I am learning as I get older to look for the positive in all things. When doing so...even seemingly mundane everyday housekeeping tasks become joyful and pleasant. After all ..life is what we make it...I choose to be content in mine for the here and now and to look forward to what will be in the hereafter.

Blessings,Shelly

'Joyful chaos' - love it! When my daughter was a baby I used to say a little grace that not just thanked God for the food we were to eat, but also that I had her to give food to. (I'm going to put it on my 'Patchwork Musings' blog as soon as I find a certain photo to illustrate it.) Blessings to you, Shelley x x

Bless you Shelley. I feel guilty for always complaining about my floors. You have such a happy disposition and such enjoyment of the simple things that so many of us don't appreciate.
Yes I am old enough to be your mama, but you certainly give me food for thought and a lot of lessons on life.

Hugs
Iris

Oh Shelley--- what joy in your heart..
your family sounds delightful... even though we have 3 kids, they all lead busy lives with their families so we dont see them much which hurts my heart...
Take care of yourself... enjoy every minute with your kids.... bless you and your family my dear friend.

My mom had a saying, by the time you die, you've ate 10 pounds of dirt.
She never worried much about the house being perfect, living in the woods dad and I were always dragging in dirt, the dogs drug in dirt and mom's ceramic shop drug in lots of white dirt. She always said, that was the best kind, the white kind!

So happy you had a good day and your heart was so content. That pure love of God and family radiates from this post. Pure and simple, chaos is pure bliss at times.

Love you, back to work today. Had a good nights sleep and ready to take on the day! Plus, on Monday we took a little car trip to my favorite hideaway and I found Barbie dishes to match the one and only one I had from my childhood. Simple pleasure!
