Welcome Spring

Got the cute bucket at Walmart for $1.00...added dianthus and snapdragons

Thought I would share a quaint little poem of mine today, one with a little "old english" flare  :)

Spring brings out the young in thee
along with the blossoms on thy tree.
No more tender a time may be,
than when winter takes its formal leave.
Then comes Spring, tis with it brings
green grass,and other growing,living things.
Fare'thee well to winter, for Spring has sprung
Now go gather ye flowers, not but a few!
Amongst the fields, you will find them waiting for you.
Fill ye vases for your cottage or home, to
welcome friends and family who have from thee roamed.
Or, suppose ye just, to welcome Spring, for as we know
Spring is a very welcoming thing.   SB

Second Advent Sunday

He is our hope, his love for us is like none other...two candles lit.
If there were no money for presents ,under the tree.
No mistletoe hanging,no wreath,no singing
No turkey on the table,no guest sitting in your chairs.
Tell,me...would there still be Christmas anywhere?
No parties for folly,no tree ,nor holly.
Would there still be Christmas in your home, would you still feel jolly?
So if there were none of that...those things I mentioned above,
And all there was...was, God with us
Would he, would Jesus be enough?
I say Yes....Immanuel, God with us....
Yes, O yes ...So much more, than just enough!
I say rejoice... Church Rejoice...for Immanuel,
Has come to thee O Israel.  SB Dec. 2013

Five day till Christmas....when all through the house.

Five days till Christmas when all through the house...the greenery was strewn all about....there were berries in colors of red and blue.....Oh,and the greenery...there was Ceder and Holly..just to name a few. All ready and waiting for loved ones to come and view. All these are gifts from God's bountiful source ...waiting to grace your home this Christmas morn. Blue for the royalties Christ left above..red for the blood he shed in love. Green for life everlasting he brought....Our souls pass to heaven..was the plan that he wrought. Pine cones are prickly, like the thorns that marred his head....Oh,to think the path for our souls he did tread.
All these things remind me of God's love for all mankind...God gave his only son, send from Heaven... Alure...long ago on that very first Christmas morn.

In My little Basket.....

Basket ....
A container made of twigs, rushes, thin strips of wood, or other flexible material woven together.

I like baskets...they are pretty, useful and works of art in my opinion. I have a quite a few but,am just sharing these today. All the ones you see in this post have been found at thrift stores, garage sales or flea markets.
They are always very cheap.....don't think I ever pay over a 1.99 for one.

Cute Christmas basket,with jingle bells.

This one sits on top of my refrigerator and keeps my bread, chips, etc.

Hanging from the ceiling of my mobile home.
If you are very tall you will bump your head on these...smile.

Even the bottoms can be pretty.
One thing I like about baskets is they are not only nice to look at but, they come in quite handy when needing to carry something. They have been around for centuries and I don't see them ever going out of style. I prefer the older ,vintage, antique ones but, there are a lot of nice modern ones out there too.

The next three pictures are from google images.....

Pretty

Neat

Cute

Now for a little poem...written by me.

In my little Basket.

I will take my little basket and a gathering I will go...Reaping earths bounty, the blessings God bestows. Flowers in Spring, bright leaves in Fall....in Winter I will gather pine cones to hang from my Christmas Tree so tall. No need to go spending money on something false...take your basket and go shopping in God's bounty...where there isn't any cost.

October's Poem.....

Welcome October...I am glad you are here......

"Listen!  the wind is rising,
and the air is wild with leaves,
We have had our summer evenings,
now for October eves!"
-  Humbert Wolfe

Celebrate October...the long hot summer has gone! Cool evenings await us with their October song.
Tis a treat to see the leaves falling,it makes for a whimsical sight. The wind catches their falling and sends them to their flight. Crows are seen among the bright colored leaves..calling their sounds of the crow call.
Saying come Autumn leaves.. Dance with us..See how they twist and turn as they gently fall.
There is much to celebrate in this glorious month.....a time of gathering and putting away...saving for colder months and even longer days. A time for harvest, then for rest,a time for remembering just how much we have been blessed. Preparing for holidays...it won't be long till we will all sing our favorite Christmas songs.
Yes,October welcomed you be...for your sweetness is so very dear to me.
By me...Shelley

Many October blessings,Shelley
