Yarn Corral

Pinterest

Being a lady that loves to crochet, I thought this would be a great way to corral your yarn ball while you work. I might settle for a more decorative teapot though, other than the plain brown one in the picture. A prettier one would make for more eye candy of sorts. Then again, I think the brown itself is quite charming, in its own, plain way. It's a good natural earthy color. I am busy at crocheting a new granny square blanket . I chose some Amish theme colors for this one, and while I'm crocheting on this project, I'm already thinking of the colors I want to pick for my next project.
I'm always getting ahead of myself ;)  Do any of you have that problem?

I keep thinking I'll do something different than the granny square, but I keep going back to it. Just maybe the next will be a ripple.  Change can be nice from time to time.
On another note, my parents are down with the flu. Say a prayer for them if you will. They've been to the doctor and are taking meds. I'm praying it will pass quickly and they will be well again very soon. Thank you so much friends.  I pray you are all well and that you week will be wonderful.  Blessings ♡

Simple Makings

I've been trying to be creative again. I had a lone sock without a mate so I decided to make a sock doll, of sorts! The black top is the toe of the sock. The collar is a ponytail holder, I tried on for looks.  I didn't like it so it came off!
The little snowman is one I crocheted.

Then I added her eyes and started adding some hair. Now, shes playing in my work basket until I feel like going at it again.

This nose has got to go. I'm not making a mouse! !!!!

I left her alone a minute and shes trying to crawl out! Oh dear me, shes showing her bare tush. No time for diapers and clothes yet. You naughty little thing, back in the basket with you!

Well, if nothing else, shes sure to be one of a kind......not another like this one in the whole world ;)

Now, on to other things.........

This little doll below, Matilda (Tilly), went to live with my dear friend.  Another doll gone, but not forgotten! I'm serious about this paring down business, as I also sent two trash bags full of books to our home town charity shop, and three dolls went to the church nursery for the little ones to enjoy. When I'm done, I'll only be keeping about four dolls, that is "when I'm done "    The deciding which four is kinda difficult for me.

 Blessings my friends

I Love Yarn Day

From Crochet Magazine
Today is national I love yarn day. How about that, I didn't even know there was such a thing :) However, I do love yarn for many reasons, crocheting being my number one reason, so I've decided to celebrate " I love yarn day" here on my blog!

I'll be working on some crochet projects today and listening to some beautiful worship music, along with my other doings.  I need to take it a little easier today anyway, as I've had a busy couple of weeks. Howbeit, its been a very good business, but my body says ......slow down please!

Here I'm sharing some of my finished crochet projects, accept for this first one, I still have some rounds left on it, and that could be what I'll be working on today.

Heres a sweet image I'll share with you, just right click on it and save.  Blessings friends

This sweet kitty loves yarn too, shes celebrating as well, and having a ball of it!

Babies and Bonnets

Google image

Hello dear friends.  We are getting some glorious rain here today, and the temps are in the 80's.  For only one day away from August, thats pretty awesome for my neck of the woods. All the plant life is still green and beautiful as well, compared to other summers when by this time everything has dried up and turned a dull brown.  Well, since I posted on hats yesterday, I thought I would show you the new bonnet I crocheted for our newest family member,  sweet Audrey Alexandra ,whom is due to arrive in September.  Remember the other bonnet I made recently and wasn't to happy with? It's the one on the smallest doll in my header picture at the top .

While it turned out really cute, it just wasn't soft enough for a newborn in my opinion.  So I purchased some really soft yarn and set to crocheting another, only this time using a different pattern.  I love how it turned out , and can't wait to see it on our precious Audrey.

So what do you think?  Nothing sweeter than a baby in a bonnet, thats what I think!   Blessings my friends

Big Baby now has Clothes

My latest dolly rescue, Big Baby now has her clothes on,that's always a good thing, don't you agree?
I put a long sleeve Onesie under this beautiful little dress I purchased at GW because of the hand that's missing four fingers.

Look at the details....just lovely and so sweet.

And this is the Raggedy Ann I rescued the day before Big Baby. She was very dirty and had a hole in one foot. I put her through the washer, although she still has some stains that wouldn't wash out, she really came so much cleaner than I thought she would! She smells nice and clean now as well. She is one of the old dress me type raggedies. She once had black shoes with laces in them to teach little girls to dress themselves. Notice the big buttons?

The little bonnet on the right I crocheted myself for my little granddaughter due to be born in Sept. I am not real happy with how it turned out ,so I am getting some much softer baby yarn today and giving it another try. This was my first attempt at crocheting a baby bonnet! I will show more of this bonnet and the next one in a later post. I pray you are all having a blessed weekend thus far my dear friends.

Something Beautiful

I am calling this one my stained glass window...when its finished I will hang it in my front window.

I think I am enjoying this project more than any other. What started out as a project just to use up scrap yarn is turning into something beautiful....kinda like life sometime....don't you think.

Have a blessed week friends

Tablet Accessory

I crocheted a sleeve for my new tablet my daughter bought for me a while back. I have been using it a lot to get on line ,instead of my desktop, which has issues.I didn't use a pattern, just made it up as I went along. Just a little bigger and it could be made to fit an IPad. Oh,these technical things, who would have ever thought Simply Shelley would be in the middle of such? :-)

Just raise up the flap and slide it in. I may add a bit more on the front, maybe a flower or two, just to pretty it up a bit! So what do you think? Blessings

We are his People....prayer request please

I love this plate...we are his people and the sheep of his pasture Psalms 100
I have probably shown it to you more than once  :)

And my crosses, but the little one on the right is new!

On the  top of my desk

My latest crochet project across my knees
This one I am crocheting from left over pieces,I have had for a while, but I think its turning out pretty. Yep,that's my feet...I always wear black shoes and black trouser socks with my skirts and dresses.

Looks who loves sitting on my shoulder like a little bird while I am crocheting. Did I mention I changed her name from Snowie to Lilibet ?  I saw that name on another blog...it was the name of a doll, and its short for Elizabeth, but I thought it suited this little one very well.....after all she is Lilly White!

Here she is again...she is very camera shy....I had to catch her off guard.

These guys are about to get a monkey makeover....I will show them again when they are done. There are three and there won't be anymore....three makes a collection, or so they say! They have all had a nice bath, but they do need just a little bit more of something...don't you agree?

I hope your week is wonderful....our family has something coming up this week, and we really need God's will to be done in the matter. If you can, I would so appreciate a prayer from you.....thank you...all of you are always so faithful when it comes to me asking for prayer....and that means so very much to me....thank you all, from my heart....I thank you.......Blessings

Handmade gifts at Christmas

Jalyn's purse

These are a couple of the gifts I made for Christmas ....I crocheted three of the granddaughters purses, and put together little terrariums for my two daughters and daughter in law. I think they were pleased  :)  , and I had fun making them.

Kathy with her terrarium
Hope you are having a great weekend. We have some cold..frigid (low 10's) weather coming our way...burrr. We are not used to such temps here in our neck of the woods. I just pray we don't lose our electricity, are end up with frozen water pipes. I guess I better do what I can to prepare for the front. Blessings to all.....stay warm and safe.

Chit Chat

This clown is coming to one of your homes soon.

Its been raining lightly off and on for most of the day,and I have been sung in my little mobile cottage puttering. One of those days when you seem to have been busy for most of the day,but when you stop and look around, its hard to see that you have made much of an accomplishment. That's what happens when you are mostly just going through things, moving this and that around...sorting through drawers and such. I do have a bag of things ready to be taken to the charity shop, so that's a good thing, I reckon! I packed a box of other things to put away. I do that from time to time...pack some things and bring out others. I still feel as if I am cluttered, and I have gotten rid of so much over the last year or two. All I can say is... I am still on a weeding spree! Truthfully, it may never end. I may just keep a practice of gathering up a box or two of stuff about once a month for the charity shop from now until kingdom come...so to speak :)

Remember these lanterns I just hung recently? Well, I took them down today.

I just decided they were a bit to festive for everyday. I kept them though, maybe for some fun occasion  :)
If I could have you girls come here for a day, there is so much I could give you to take back home with you.
As I was going through some things today...I kept thinking...I know she would love this, wish I could put in the mail for her. Then I came across something else and thought....and you know who would really love this...wish she didn't live so far away. If I had enough extra money I believe I could find something to box up for each and everyone of you. By the way...I really talk to myself too when I am puttering around here  :)
I do that alot since I live alone now.
I haven't forgotten I mentioned there will be a give away coming up here on my blog. I certainly have one in my plans, just not quite sure how soon it will be! I have had a mind to send someone that clown in the first picture for a while now, so got to get him shipped off first. First things first, right?

Trying to catch up on some letter writing too. I also started a new crochet project today. A Prayer Blanket for a very special wee one on the way. No, I have no more grandchildren expected anytime soon  :)  ,but a sweet friend is expecting a precious baby added to her family soon. I am very happy for her and her husband.   Hope your week has started off wonderfully. Blessings to all of you, Shelley

Needle and Yarn ...........

Google

I haven't crocheted in a while. I prefer crocheting in the cold weather months, but I find myself needing some yarn and a needle in hand. Most often what I create is simple, can't do the fancy work! Its a wonderful pass time...good for the body, and soul! Below is some pictures of different projects from the past. A few I have laid aside and haven't picked back up yet to finish. Right now, I am thinking I will get to work on some new washcloths/dishcloths...they work good both ways  :)  They are a good crochet project for the summer.
Not so much yarn laid up across your lap,but in the winter, that's a very good thing  :)

I thought the picture at the top (found on Google) to be pretty amusing! What do you think?
