Picnic in the Park....

We had a wonderful day, first the sale, and then at the park for a picnic....the park is in the old part of Tyler with the most wonderful old bricks streets and beautiful old homes...I always love spending time there. Jaxon was being silly with his tongue sticking out in the center photo :) I made a pot of black bean soup that was very satisfying. The weather was a little warm, but still comfortable enough for eating soup. I found some goodies at the sale, will take some pictures and share those later. I also ran into a blogging friend.....we both love these sales and have met one another there the last few times...its always fun to get a hug and say hello. Jessie is continuing to improve.....I am very thankful for that. Hope you are having a super weekend....blessings,Shelley

Annual Thrift Sale and Picnic Day.....more about Jessie.

Google image

Just wanted to let y'all know Jessie is doing just a bit better this morning...I bought some dry dog food in tiny bites, and she was able to eat a bit of it. She still can't lap her water, but I am hoping that will correct itself with time. Thank you dear friends for all your concern and very kind comments...Jessie and I both appreciate them :) Today is the annual sale of the Ladies Auxiliary of our local Salvation Army and as always we are having a picnic afterwards. Jaxon will be with us today so he will enjoy his time at the park very much.
The weather is supposed to be beautiful, maybe just a little too warm for me....in the mid 80's,but I am not complaining :) I pray all of you have a very blessed and beautiful day as well. Some days for me...a slow steady rain kind of day is beautiful and wonderful in itself! Just not when there is a picnic in the plan :)

A very Good Day.....

It was a wonderful outing! We decided on an "Old fashion Picnic" instead of eating out. As you can see,Regina brought along her knitting,I read Amish Proverbs aloud, while Betty enjoyed an old vintage magazine. We ate some really "good for you" food..then just sat and enjoyed one anothers company until almost time for the park to close.....we all felt good and fulfilled when we started home. A good day indeed!

These were the few things I purchased for the day.....except a few other little items.

And this was a little birthday gift from Betty.
The sweet little book "The Lord is my Shepherd" is by none other than Tasha Tudor. I was thrilled with it! Thanks again Betty and thanks to my sweet daughter Regina for making this day so special for me.

FAMILY FUN WEEK....

We have another horse lover...
Hello, just wanted to share this past week with you with some pictures....there are a quite a few but,it was a BIG week full of FAMILY FUN......

Fishing with daddy before daylight...

Time for a fish fry...with family.

Most of the kiddos preferred the fries over the fish.

Must have drinks too.

Some were somber...Jon was just in from a trip out of town on the job.
Some were very jolly...
Another day at our local park....

Game of football...
For young and old....smile.
Actually..I got up,passed the ball (by the way,to the wrong side)then sat back down...

Guess,I must have been trying too kick the ball from afar. Looking at this picture again...I see I am just rubbing my poor achy knee...smile.
Like father...Like son.

Missing one...Kalyn! She was with a little friend for the day.
These two had so much fun together but,got into a few scrapes too. But,they always kissed and made up!

It was truly a very blessed week.

Blessings,Shelley

Picnic in the Park.......

I wanted to share our latest picnic with you all...this time I was the host and I made it very simple. I did lunch bags with fancy bottled water and the works. It was all stuff I picked up at the grocery store. It was a bit of a "Literary Picnic" ...I brought books to share as did Betty! Betty's daughter and DIL joined us again. I shared some scripture and Jamie(Betty's DIL) read some scripture as well. Then Betty shared her book with us. I thought it was a wonderful day. I love the fact that even grown ups used to read aloud to one another ...it's a comforting thing for me. These days T.V.'s and so many other technical gadgets take the place of such times.
I long for the more simpler ways and strive to acquire them.

From the Children's book ..A Day in the Country.

Our Day in the Park...........
Betty and I

You can see just a wee bit of a Mary Engelbreit book "Don't Look Back" It's a favorite little book of mine ...given to me at a most appropriate time in my life by a very dear friend,Jackie(Once upon a Fairyland)...I read it over and over. Thank you again for my little book of blessings my sweet friend.

Here are Heather and Jamie's bags..I'm sorry I didn't share their picture...I didn't ask permission...smile.
They are both very pretty young women though...truly. These girls have decided that they want to host a picnic for Betty and I...
I can't wait to see what they come up with.
Blessings to all,Shelley

Picnic in the Park

As you know from my post yesterday...it was the annual sale of the Ladies Axillary that my friend Betty and I attend every year. We always follow up with a picnic in a beautiful local park in Tyler. The sale was wonderful as always but,I found this year that it was much harder on me physically. It was a long wonderful day but,I am in much pain this morning. I have prayed, taken pain meds, applied patches and still my whole right leg is swelled and in so much pain. I believe most of the pain is coming from the hip but,it is hard to distinguish. Anyway,I am sorry to complain to you all and I am sure I will live over it....smile. It was a very fun day over all...I found a few little things and will share them later. It was Betty's time to host our picnic and she picked a Halloween theme. The table was festive and the food was wonderful! She made the most delicious drink, which was white grape juice, ginger ale and then she added fruit, mixed berries and pineapple. Yummy!

The table
Betty got this idea from Martha Stewart.

Today we are having a Harvest Festival at our church. I plan to dress up like Mother Goose and offer to read Nursery Rhymes to any children interested....will see how it goes. Praying this pain eases up before this afternoon. Blessings on your day...Shelley
