Sewing Lessons

Today one of the grans had a birthday party, shes going to be 10 in a few days, but we celebrated today. I started at the first part of the week making her gift. I made her a cute book bag, or whatever kind of bag she may want it to be. I didn't follow a pattern, and took little pains with it. What I do, I do as simply as I can. If it starts to overwhelm me, then I'll never get it finished.  I thought it turned out pretty well, and Dakota seem to like it. I'm hoping to be using my sewing machine a little more......sewing some doll clothes etc.

This is my daughter Regina modeling the bag for me after I was finished with it.

Working with patterns has always been a challenge for me. This sweet Patsy doll below is a doll my daughter Regina gave me years ago.  I've always wanted to sew some outfits for her. I'm hoping I'll get the courage to try soon. I've wanted to make a companion doll of her. I will share more about that in another post, at another time.

Isn't this sweetie wearing a cute little frock?

I have a wee little 6 inch Patsy too. Sewing her clothes may be a great challenge for me.

I guess time, patience , and practice,  will tell. Blessings my friends

Grandchildren make my Life just Grand

Just a few recent pictures of some of the grans. Above, Colton and Tristan, having a grand old time playing with trucks in the dirt. I love when kids are outdoors playing as children ought to.

Grandson , Isaiah, in the middle getting a pass off for a touchdown.  He's one great athlete. Our little town is there on Friday nights to cheer the Tigers on.

Little Audrey is already a week old :)

And Jaxon just turned five. He's just glad he's not the baby anymore.

Grandchildren sure make life grand, don't you think? And so do you my faithful friends.  Your comments, huggs and prayers were felt. I am feeling uplifted, and so very grateful.........thanks so much.    Blessings

Reborning Progress

This post is a continuation of my previous post about the process of reborning dolls, so you might want to scroll down and read that post first. I just wanted to show you the progress I have made with my baby. Remember this is my first try and I'm using a cheaper  " make do " method  :)

Doll...as I found her.

After removing her clothes.........

Then after detaching her body........

Body parts, washed, painted , and now hanging to dry.....I know, a little creepy..right?

My poor home still hasn't got its paint job :(

Head has been washed and now has its first coat of paint applied.

Now here it is after much painting...I even painted the hair on this one. The redness is newborn baby splotches, or stork bites as some call them. I see her lips are to dark, I'll be lightening them up some later.
So what do you think?

Next, I'll be working on sewing her body and reassembling her. I'm having fun with this project. Loving it as a matter of fact....I'm ready to go out and find me some more orphaned babies and reborn them as well. I am hoping I'll get better each time. Today is my birthday, a sweet young friend made me homemade snicker doodle cookies, ( notice the baggie on the right in picture) they are yummy too :)   Happy Birthday to me !  Blessings dear friends

Birthdays

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Today is my daddy's birthday,we celebrated yesterday at my brothers home on the lake. The weather here has been cold and rainy the past few days so,most of our time was spent indoors. My dad is 84 today,I feel so blessed to still have him with us. And my mama too. Life is precious,we should not take one day for granite. Just in the past few days two friends have gone to be with Jesus? While I am so sad for their loved ones left to grieve.......I am trying my best to be happy for their souls....home at last for eternity with God! The way of the redeemed!

My daddy and I, once upon a time. I was very shy as a child. Very shy!

And tomorrow, the 8th will be my eldest birthday. Regina will be 39....now that is so very hard for me to believe. If you are a mama of grown children, then you fully understand :-)

In my mind she will forever be like this.....

Happy memories..... good times with these two that mean so very much to me.

Blessings dear friends.....God is good.....all the time

Some pictures of a few changes I have made around my home. This picture below once had a brown frame,I  painted black. Also the lettering on the shelf was blue...I painted those black as well.

 Before picture below........

Two of my new houseplants...I made sort of a summer vignette, with the little wheel barrow, the redbird, garden gate(behind the Ivy),and a lazy little cat. I have a childs watering can,I will add later!

One end of the living room area. Can you find Pearl and Patty on the red shelf?

On the mantel shelf!

Found this bee skep jar recently at a yard sale! And the vintage bead basket, above at the same sale.

There they are  :)
