And so this book........

I finished this book and found it to be very good and thought provoking. If you desire to live a more simple life, near to God,desiring to put others before yourself, following Christ example of kinship, not of this world ,but of his kingdom, than I suggest you read it for yourself. I am not Amish and suspect I never will be,but I do see myself as living "Almost Amish".
Many things Nancy shares in her book,I find I have already been led to follow in my own life. I know this is going somewhere special for me and I am taking it all in,one day at a time. I am not seeking acceptance from anyone, but God! I only want to please him. In no way do I claim to know anything, other than what his Holy Spirit is revealing to me. Its not what I am learning from man,but how God is opening my understanding while reading his word.

We have power to live as over comers...we are in the world, but not of the world. We were commanded to come out and be separate. Does that mean becoming Amish? No! But still they can teach us much about how to do that. I feel we are living in the last days and God is calling many to come away,to draw nigh to him. To return to the old paths! Where in is the good way! Jeremiah 6:16

And we should glorify him in our daily living....doing unto others as we would have them do unto us. Helping when it is in our means to do so. Especially those of the household of faith! Even little things in word or deed can be huge in a true time of need.

God help me to follow your leading...to do your will and not my own. To love others and share you ,your word with them. May my life be a blessing, and may I hear you say,Well done, thy good and faithful servant.....Amen

Dear Shelley,

Well said, dear friend! And you have found some lovely pictures to share, too.

I'm looking forward to hearing about your quilting classes; I have that on my to do list for someday! :)

Love,

Marqueta

Sometimes a simple smile can mean the world to someone. There is so much we can do even if we have little.

Beautiful post Shelley. I know how you deeply desire to do what is right and follow the lead of the Holy Spirit. He will never lead you down a path that is not in his perfect plan for you.

Shelly, first (so I don't forget it) I'd like to thank you for visiting Abundant Living with Chronic Pain and leaving a comment so that I could find you blog! Thanks for grabbing our button while you were there too! I didn't see where to grab your button but I'm gong to add you to the blog rolls on all my blogs.

I was so excited to find someone else who loves the simple lifestyle of the Amish. I'll be picking up Almost Amish soon. My husband and I are in the process of downsizing, selling our 3 bedroom home and moving to 2 bedroom apartment about 500 sq ft smaller than the house. It's amazing how much has been donated already and we can hardly tell anything gone. That tells me that we've been to materialistic by acquiring thing we really did need. My prayer is that we'll adjust well to a smaller place and a simpler way of life. We are both anxious to start that journey.

I'll be back to check our your favorite blogs and your post about your son graduating from boot camp. Please express my thanks to him for volunteering to serve our country. Have a good trip and pace yourself.
