Lydia and her Companions .......

Meet Lydia, She is my China head doll, with the smallest waist I have ever seen! I have never seen another body made as well as hers. She is very heavy, and seems to be stuffed with sawdust! I purchased her about five years ago from the Trading Post man here in my hometown. Her clothes were rotted and couldn't be saved. I would love to get her dressed in some period made clothes that would look authentic to her style.. I am not sure, but she seems to me to be a Parisian doll! Anyone have any idea? She is around 15 inches!

I have her dressed as you see in the picture below at this time. This is my Ruby she is with in the picture!

These next three are from google images.....if you want to see some more beauties...just type in...  China head doll, and click on the images. There are so many to see!

Now,to reveal a secret...I purchased some companions for Lydia through Etsy,at a very good price. One is missing her head, but I am hoping to find one to replace it! These dolls appear to be small, but in reality they are from 15-18 inches. A good size! All three dolls were only 10.00 + shipping! I think that was a good deal! I can't wait to get them. Now,I must decide what has to go,because I have a rule...if I take something new in my home...something old has to leave. It keeps me from accumulating too much. I am still working toward my rule of less is more...and simplifying my home! I saved these dolls in my favorites on my etsy account for a very long while, trying to decide if I really should purchase them, but as you know...I gave in to my temptation! No regrets as of yet though :) Hope you all have a wonderful week!

That is a good idea...something new in, something old out! Very pretty dolls...and the waistline! Must be from some specific era of time where that was important...like Gone With the Wind era! ha.

The second doll to the last photo looks like Melanie from Gone With the Wind.

Your doll is exquisite and on an exquisite doll body. She would have been dressed in silk and fancy dress of the late 1800's. Cannot tell if she is antique or repro but she is very high end for sure...just beautiful! Since her close had "melted" she could very well be antique.
