My eldest daughter,Regina taught herself to knit this year, and she is knitting some beautiful things....this prayer shawl below sold at our church bazaar.
This little shawl reminds me of the one Tasha Tudor wore so much.
Here's one she just completed, and now she is working on a blanket. I am very proud of her!

WOW ! I knit but I can't follow a pattern.She's a beginner? Fantastic-I don't see any mistakes,She's very very good :)
I had to reread your post. She taught herself this year! Well,For crying out loud, there has got to be something wrong with My knitting skills :/ She is so naturally talented in knitting-How wonderful.
I love how soft the colors are in the shawl and how comfy it would be to wear it. Tell your daughter I admire her creativity.
Oh, she does beautiful work, Shelley! I would be proud of her, too! Very nice shawls. Have a wonderful day! Twyla

The second shawl you show here is my favorite kind. It shows up in lots of different period movies ranging from the 1700s to the 1930s at least
