Hot tea with a slice of lemon does wonders for an ill body, but you must drink it from a beautiful ,vintage tea cup in order for it to work :)
Amish Friendship Bread |
I had some bread starter shared with me and it was on the tenth day after I received it ,that I was to separate the starter to be shared with three other friends, then bake the bread from the remainder....that day fell on the day I was just starting to feel bad, but alas..I baked my bread! Its more of a sweet cake like bread, and I think the next go around ...I will omit some of the sugar and make it less sweet. The mix makes the two loafs so if you can't use two...you have one to share, which I did! While I have been sick,I have been breaking a piece off on and then and having it with my tea :) Its quite tasty!
I have been visiting blogs and my heart is breaking because so many are already at the very first of this new year facing some very tough situation in their lives....death of loved ones, cancer, other illness as well...Well dear souls while ... God did not promise us we would not face trials ....he did promise he would never leave us,nor forsake us....he is with us.....so please,be encouraged today.....we are ever in his care.
Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. James 1:2-3 NLT
No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening--it's painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way. Hebrews 12:11 NLT
Do I dare share this picture ...while in my sad ,sick state? Yes,I do because.... I wish you to know that, though we suffer we can smile, because we do not bare our burdens alone.....and while I feel my suffering today is but nothing compared to what some of you are facing...I have faced great trials in the past...some I thought would sure be the death of me,and yet I lived, and was ,but stronger for it... in the end (and there will be an end). I pray you too will find peace, strength, and endurance through whatever trial you may be facing ....and know for certain...that this too shall pass! Blessings dear friends...you are in my prayers!
Just out of the sick room.....SMILE...Jesus loves you! |

Shelley....tears run down my face as I read your beautiful words. What a blessing you have been to me dear friend. You have no idea how much your prayers have been felt.
May Our Lord continue to build your physical strength as this flu makes its way out of your body.
In Christ! Maria
For being sick you sure look great!

Beautiful post my friend! You are a very lovely lady! I am so glad you shared the photo of yourself! Though you are suffering you can see the joy in your face that shows Jesus is in your heart! Only He can give us the joy that takes us through difficult times, and it is a witness to others when they see it. Thank you for all you shared! It is awful the flu is already attacking in the new year. I am sorry to hear about your friend Betty. I pray she will be better soon, and can have her surgery. Bless her heart!!! And bless your's too dear Shelly! Take good care and enjoy your tea in that lovely vintage teacup... and your bread too! Much love, Paula xoxo
Thank you for sharing such precious words today and for your prayers. It does seem like so many facing difficult times, but I know our God is faithful. I love the picture of you!
Shelley, love your post. You are absolutely right that God will never leave us nor forsake us. Such a comforting truth!
I've never made friendship bread but it certainly looks delicious!
Thank you for the sweet post, Shelley.. I think you look lovely..
Glad you are feeling better..
God is faithful.. xo
Sure hope you feel completely better very soon. Take good care of yourself.
You look so pretty in your picture. Well, now I know why my hot tea has not helped my cold one little bit, I've been drinking it out of an ugly old mug instead of a pretty teacup and saucer. Your pretty tea cup and saucer really does make your tea look much more healing and your home baked bread looked delicious, too. Hope you are feeling better soon!
Thank you for praying for us... You are in my prayers, too.
And Shelley, you do look very sweet and well, too!
Blessings,

Hi Shelley,
I'm so glad you're feeling better. I didn't get my flu shot this year. When my cold clears up I shall get my shot.
Don't try to do too much too soon.that old flu bug has a way of coming back.
Hugs
Iris
Dear Shelley
I hope you are feeling much better by now. Lovely post Shelley, your baking looks warm and hearty & your vintage teacup is lovely. Yes, so many folk have a sad time to bear, let's all hope the year turns out to be a better one really soon! God Bless...Robbie x
I was blessed by this post, too Shelley, thank you for sharing it. I'm going through a very sad time, knowing that my mama's battle with cancer isn't going very well. It's so personal and painful that I don't mention it in my blog very much, but it's heavy on my heart.
On a different, frivolous note, I am enjoying the list of blogs you follow. It's a long list! :) I'm trying hard not to get too sucked in to blog surfing this morning. ;)

You are such an encourager! Sweet post!! I've been fighting the flu bug this past week... and just wanted to stop by and see how you were feeling! I haven't been up to much blogging recently. I guess I found my problem though... I need to drink my tea from a vintage tea cup! ;) Many blessings!!
