Once again I am in the valley of decision ...I think I may be a seasonal decorator! While I have spent the last year,or so toning all the color down in my home, and once I had a whole lot of color...lots of red! I now find myself wanting to add much color back into it! I am thinking it may have something to do with Spring! Or not, just may be my mood. So should I just change with my feelings or fight the want and leave what I have, knowing these more calm, serene, simple surroundings will come back around to my satisfaction soon enough. Which I still love this look of monotone in my home so much! What I need is a in between...a balance, so to speak! I visit so many different blogs, all with so many different styles and taste. I love so much of every blog I visit, and I will admit...I am influenced by all the wonderful vignettes, etc...I see! I just gotta figure this out.....do what I like...what best suits me,my home....and be happy with it.
I have gone from this............
To this....................
Now...to find my in between :)

You are very versatile. I suggest you box up stuff and change whenever you feel like it. Just as nature changes with the seasons, it is no wonder you feel like change once in a while!
Your home needs to be YOU! My style, taste have changed over the years, I once had a lot of country things, too many in fact! When I go and look at old photos I see the clutter and think, I am now happy with less is more. I think you have to adjust and if it does not make you smile when you walk into a room, well then you have to make it you...it is YOUR home! Hugs
Your current simple look jazzed up with some seasonal decoration would seem to be a solution. I like bright colors, too, but not all the time...yet spring makes me crave color more. Have fun!
Shelley, I am a fan of both styles and struggle to find a happy medium in my home also. I love primitive country and vintage pastels. I think as long as I like what I display it doesn't matter if it's 'correct' or not. Have a nice weekend! Twyla
Oh Shelly, I so understand the wanting change..I do the same thing.. Just do what you like and makes you happy.. What ever look/color that is.. I think,I just love the change and the process of decorating.. [I am always changing,ha]
Of course, I am not a good judge .. I LOVE red... I mean I REALLY love red.. It is all over my house.. [even in the rooms that tend to have pinks or greens.. the red HAS to come in too.lol] When I saw your first photos.. I fell in love immediatley.. It just looks so pretty and inviting.. See......... I told you, I am not a good person to ask.lol
Hope you have fun with all you decisions.
bty..I absolutely love all you pretty things.. and you know, all " our stuff" , is what makes us happy..And, I have found that now that I am retired and spend so much more time at home.. I love stuff.
I love both looks. Maybe you should change back and forth, according to your mood or the season.
I love country prim, vintage, victorian, on and on I could go. I am influenced by seeing all the pretty things and all the decorating styles out here on blogs and etc. I am very confused sometimes as to my decor. I think it's a mixture.
Hugs

You could do what I do. I like many different styles and want to use them all throughout my home, so I have a different style in each room. Our bedroom is Western, the living room is cozy cottage, my bathroom reflects a garden feel. Our guest/craft room will eventually be vintage/shabby and the kitchen is an eclectic mix of county/crafty/whimsical. I think a home should reflect the people who live there. I don't like homes that look as if they were featured in a magazine. Pretty yes but they are very personable in my opinion.
Okay girly, here we go again! It's called mood-altering! That's what my therapist said once upon a time. The seasons of ones life, change the way we look at our world.
I vote for the cute!
I have to say Shelley, that I like the second version you shared. I don't like clutter, so the style that appeals to my senses and keeps my days calm, is the one with the minimal of stuff :) The second one has such a beautiful, serene quality.
But you are the one that lives there, so it has to be what makes you feel comfortable and relax :)
So sweet, I love the puppies too
I think we all find ourselves making that same decision at times. I've been in a rut for the last couple of years since a new paint job. I've kept with neutral, earth tone colors, though sometimes I just want some color. I guess that's where my seasonal decorating comes in. It changes up the scenery for a while!
