Go light your world...........

I love a soft light in my home. I have just never care for a bright light that shines to the deepest corners....seeming to wake up anyone or anything in its path! I feel more at peace and relaxed with soft lighting. I hardly ever use overhead lighting, until some of the family come over and ask why I stay in the dark :) My son will say...turn some light on in here Ma!  Sometimes, I turn off all the lamps and burn candles or my oil lamps. I love it! Natural lighting is another favorite...nothing like the sun shining through the windows on a cloudless day...I can almost hear God say....Let there be light!
Years ago, when I was teaching pre-K in the Christian Academy, one of the things they taught us to do to settle down a room full of rowdy children was to turn the lights out (there was still light in the room from the windows) and began to whisper. Worked everytime! I don't like sitting in those little rooms at the doctors office with those very bright fluorescent lights overhead.
Makes me more uncomfortable than I already am. I do understand why there is a need for them in a doctor's office though. I do turn on the lights when I am doing some intensive cleaning, dusting, mopping etc. Gotta see the dirt and dust to get rid of it  :)

These are just some examples of lighting I have had,and do have in my home. Lots of candles as well.

I Love this picture...so peaceful looking!

Sometimes, its the smallest little light that can reach the farthest in the dark......
This little light of mine...I'm gonna let it shine!  Go light your world!

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father, which is in heaven. Matt. 5:16

"His life is the light that shines through the darkenss - and the darkness can never extinguish it."
John 1:5
A favorite verse of mine for you.

Hi Shelley,
I, too, love gentle light. I find it very calming and soothing. I have heard candle light called "Living Light" and like that.
May you be blessed with soft, kind, gentle light that will shine your pathway... Blessings.

I thought of you today. I was visiting a local Goodwill store and noticed a lady carrying a big baby doll to her car. She must like dolls like you do.
Hope things are going well for you.

Love your lamps.. and all your pretty displays... So beautiful.. In the first photo, that doll in the long white dress, is beautiful..
I pray that we will always let out lights shine for God. And may His loving care bless you this night. Hugs.

I love this post and the scenes from your home. I love that you have evidence of your faith everywhere, especially your bible on your night stand. You are letting your light shine! Enjoy your weekend.

I am not a fan of a lot of harsh lighting either. A lot of times I sit in the dark. My husband comes in and turns on every light in a room. He says he needs light to see and doesn't understand that I can see with just a little light, such as the porch light shining in through the door.

Grace & Peace
