I received the book " The Dolls House",by Rumer Godden from a dear friend ,and just finished it last night. It was so much fun reading it. With it being illustrated by Tasha Tudor, made it special for me.
My friend knows I'm a fan of Tasha's! It's about two sisters who inherit Tottie,a little farthing doll from their Great Aunt, and later after the other Aunt passes on,they also inherit the dollhouse and another doll , Marchpane, whom was also once an occupant of the dollhouse.

I found these pictures from google images! You can go
here for a great page about Hitty Dolls, which is the type of doll Tottie is.

Tottie is my favorite character from the story. Dear sweet Tottie..so very unlike Marchpane...lets just say...Marchpane isn't a very nice doll friend!

This story is set in England in the 1940's. I found this picture from that period...one of the little girls name is Charlotte, and,so I imagined this could be her playing with the doll house :)

I adore Tasha Tudor too, and this book is new to me, the dolls are sweet. I have a book with photos of Tasha and her home and gardens. Her home had a long uphill rutted road, almost impassable, which discouraged visitors. What a charming home she created.
This book looks wonderful.. So proud you got to enjoy it. Thank you for sharing the lovely photos..
So perfect for you!How sweet of Jackie.
I love sweet little dollies. Sounds like my kind of book, all about dolls and illustrated :-) Hope you are doing well Shelley. Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

What a wonderful post to come and read today. Thank you, Shelley for a moment of fun and relaxation. I read back through the last couple of days posts, too, as I have been away from blogs this week... thank you for them all.
Love to you,
