Sewing Trials......

My granddaughter Jalyn and I started a sewing project yesterday. Doll clothes! Jalyn picked this polka dot material out of my stash for her doll's dress. We got the pattern pinned and cut out,but my sewing machine wasn't stitching right,so now we are stuck, until I get it operating better. I really don't know what I am doing...just trying to get some experience here :)  Wish us luck!

See the swelling in my hands...that old arthritis!

This sewing box below,I have had for all my housekeeping years,38!  I believe it was a garage sale find  :)

Its been a good sewing box.....and I won't be giving it up,but...........

One of my sweet blogging friends just sent me a gift through the mail, a box of goodies, and in that box was a pretty sunflower sewing box.  I will show it to you in a later post. Thank you again my dear sweet friend.

Hi Shelley, I loved reading this because all of my grands have American Girl type dolls and last Christmas I made lots of clothes for them. It had been such a long time since I've sewn garments and you made me realize I need to get in and sew some more before the holidays. Hope you get your machine working properly.
Hugs, Noreen

Shelley, I am sorry that your machine is not working, but you can try to sew them by hand. ;)

You could teach her to sew the dress by hand. It's a good skill for her to know and shouldn't take long since it's a doll dress.

Dear Shelley,

What a sweet dress you've picked out! Sewing machines can be real bummers when they don't work. Mine is acting up, as well, and I was hoping to do lots of summer sewing.

I love your sewing box; the satin lining makes them so special. I have the exact same needle cards, too!

Love,

Marqueta

So pretty..the inside of your sewing box. And the doll pattern looks so cute and little on the fabric.

I remember when my grandma taught me how to crochet....so this is going to be such a nice memory for Jalyn in the future!

Shelly, nothing more fun than sewing doll clothes with our grandkids. Sorry your machine was acting up... that is so frustrating.
The ole arthritis is terrible.. Had to go get a shot in my knee today..[doing all that painting ,bending climbing the ladder, etc, got the arthritis acting up.]
Love your sewing box..

Good morning Shelly,
I wanted to first say thank you for visiting my blog and leaving your sweet comment.
I would have thanked you in an e-mail but it says 'no-reply' so I came here...and glad I did.
I love your post - and I love that your sweet granddaughter is taking on sewing. How fun for both of you.
I so remember those sewing baskets and I believe I had one soooo similar - but you have some wonderful vintage goodies in your.
blessings,
Karen

Glad you liked the sewing box:) I am not a great seamstress, but love all the things that go with it. Sorry about your machine and your poor arthritis. Have a blessed day, Sweet Friend! Twyla

Sometimes small doll clothes are easier to stitch by hand. But it's a challenge for me! I'm wishing you the best of luck! HAVE FUN!
