Stormy Weather...........

Was I ever put to the test. We had a storm pass through Saturday evening before dark...some rain with a lot of thunder and lighting, but not much more than that..it past through here quickly, but continued to be dark with a lot of distant lighting, thundering and something that sounded like a war zone to me. Anyway, the electricity went out before dark and was off for over 30 hours, coming back on at about 12:30 a.m. this morning. I had left to spend the night with my daughter Kathy and her family. My neighbor daughter Regina decided to stay home and bear the heat. I did the first night and it was horrible, let me tell ya. I tried every way in the world to cool off enough to fall a sleep, but very little sleep came. Plus the fact I wasn't able to use my c-pap machine which makes for a sleepless night to start with. It was an ordeal and a lesson for sure! It turned out to be a pretty big storm, took out lots of trees, and caused other damage. I thank God we were spared from such as that. There were a lot of people without electricity. Some longer than others..I believe we were some of the last to get ours back. The picture above was took by my sons fiance....the storm that brought on all the misery. Its a pretty awesome picture though, don't you think? I am thanking the Lord for a cool home once again, and praying all the more for the suffering in the world who lack the bare necessities of life. Food, clothing, water,a bed, heat when its cold and cool air when it hot....something that is needed by all people..I am so sorry not all people have such luxuries...I wish there was more I could do about that! May God bless them! Shelley

Prayer and more prayer is, what I believe, what we need to do when we feel that question - what can I do Lord?

I am sorry that you had such a bad storm Shelley. Here in the mountains, the storms seem to bypass us - which in itself is a good thing, but the humidity and heat is causing quite a bit of disturbance.

Peace to you today,

Maria

Oh my....that's an awesome picture. We drove in a nasty storm on Saturday night too. It was about 7:00 pm. We could hardly see the road before us. Thank the Lord we are all safe. Sorry you were without electricity, but we do have alot to be thankful for, don't we?

I wanted to invite you also to join me on Pinned it, Made it! Mondays (my first one is today). Come join whenever you can. I know you have ideas that you've pinned and made! :)

What an incredible photo! Glad you are safe...that must have been so awful when you didn't have a/c. I agree with you--I worry about those who don't have a/c, too...

Amazing and awesome photo! The storms have been powerful this year. I'm so glad your power is back on.

We get used to things a certain way and it's difficult when it's otherwise. We are so blessed to have the conveniences we're used to having.

Wow it's just stormy everywhere this summer- isn't it? My friend Amy from Virginia was without power for 11 days! Ugh! We got off easy because our storms just cleaned up the dust and pollen from the air and gave my garden a good watering!

Glad that you were spared any damage from the storm and that you are back home. Seems like there's always a lesson to be learned in the midst of a storm, whether it's weather related or just in life. Wishing you a blessed day.
